At the intersection of utopia and pragmatism we create contemporary architecture that feeds the imagination with an afro-futurist vision.
Informed by tradition, our practice explores new modes of construction for which the foundations have long been laid. Innovative uses of local resources and participatory design methods allow us to work beyond the boundaries of most established design practices and shed dominant norms to set our own precedents. Working across diverse geographies, our portfolio spans a wide spectrum of projects from civic infrastructure to temporary installations, from concept to execution. Founded by Francis Kéré in 2005, with a dual focus on design and social commitment, the studio's scope encompasses building, design and knowledge sharing.
Driven by a commitment to understanding the particular needs of a given context, we fine-tune our way of building for each of our projects, using local knowledge and resources as our tools.
Exploring the many crossroads of the architectural realm and other disciplines, from art to technology, we expand our design practice to include temporary structures, installations and interior and product design.
Our architecture and design projects are underpinned by an ongoing commitment to building and sharing knowledge. We see this aspect of our practice as a laboratory that allows us to be in dialogue with our own work and to explore questions that surround it.
Shedding dominant norms to set our own precedents
Across all continents and building types the Kéré Architecture expertise has been honed to arrive at an architectural practice that though flexible, distinguishing itself through signature design elements and approach to building.

Committed to community
By way of the Kéré Foundation e.V. our architectural practice has contributed to the creation of an inspirational infrastructure in Burkina Faso’s Gando that has seen the power of thoughtful, community driven design come to fruition.
